Jack Bird has an extremely rare genetic disease call Morquios which affects the skeletal system. Morquios is incurable and life threatening; many people do not survive beyond their thirties.

Although Jack is 8 years old, he is still the size of a four year old and had almost reached his full height. Four years ago, Jack’s younger brother Lewis was born. Initially diagnosed as free from the disease the family were devastated to discover that the diagnosis was wrong and Lewis had Morquios too. This film follows the Bird Family desperately trying to get an electric wheelchair for Jack and find a surgical solution to his poor mobility.

We also meet two people who refuse to let Morquios beat them: Fifteen year old Sam who won’t be bound to his wheelchair and a lover of dangerous sports, and 34 year old Sarah who has achieved career success and far more travel than many people do in a lifetime. At the end of the film, the Bird family confront their future head on as they meet up with Sarah.
